The logistics and distribution sector in Manawatu comprises wholesale trade, transport, postal, warehousing and non-store retailing activities. The regions central location and strong roading, rail and air networks means this is one of our fastest growing sectors. With more than 8,000 people employed in the sector and an expected 700 positions needing to be filled in the short to medium term it is expected that distribution and logistics sector will soon overtake the education sector in terms of value earned.

Connor McKinon

Qualification: Bachelor of Aviation, Massey University School of Aviation

Connor was born in Durban South Africa before his family emigrated to the NZ.

A graduate of the South Island’s Mountt Hutt College, Methven, Connor went on to complete his Bachelor of Aviation (BAv) degree at Massey University, Palmerston North, graduating in 2016.

He says he selected the BAv degree to “diversify myself in the aviation industry” recognising that having such a degree would offer more options in the aviation industry in later life.

He works as a commercial pilot for a company specialising in luxury charters and African Fly-In Safaris.
